Verse of the Day

BG 2.28

Avyaktadini Bhutani Vyakta-madhyani Bharata, Avyakta-nidhanany Eva Tatra Ka Paridevana

Translation

All beings are unmanifest before birth, manifest during life, and unmanifest again after death. So why should one grieve excessively?

Commentary

【 Context 】 Krishna describes life as a temporary visible stage between two unseen states. Arjuna is being encouraged to understand that what appears and disappears is part of a larger process. 【 Explanation 】 Life appears for a limited time, while its beginning and end are beyond ordinary perception. 【 Narrative 】 Think of a person entering a stage, performing for a while, and then leaving the stage. The audience sees only the performance. Krishna asks Arjuna to remember that visible life may be only one part of a much larger reality. 【 Key Lesson 】 What we see is only one part of a larger reality.
